Purpose. The purpose of the league is to provide an opportunity for youth to learn good baseball fundamentals, while having fun. We hope to develop good baseball skills while maintaining an appreciation for clean, friendly competition and a true spirit of cooperation between coaches, players, spectators and league officials. We stress sportsmanship and character development.
Organization. Leagues will be organizes by the Knights Baseball Committee. There will be three leagues, one each for Kindergarten, First and Second grades, as of the current school year. Players must be in one of those grades to be eligible.
Rosters. Players in the First and Second Grade leagues must file an application with the committee, by the deadline, to ensure a place on the same team from the previous year. After the deadline passes, we make no guarantees.
No player shall play on more than one team.
Our intent is to limit teams to 12 or 13 players per team. Experience shows us it is hard to devote the appropriate attention and allow a player adequate opportunities on teams larger than this. (The committee places players on teams generally by school. We try to the best of our ability to satisfy requests while maintaining a quality program. Only the committee places players on teams, not coaches or parents.) To provide a well organized program, the process must begin with an application filed with the committee. We cannot provide a high-quality program that is fair to all if coaches or parents circumvent the system.
Fees must be paid and liability waivers must be signed before a child is allowed to practice. Applications must be filed if siblings or friends practice with the team, no fees. Fees will be waived in the case of hardship.
All players play at all times. No players sit the bench. There are seven infield positions. The remaining players are spread evenly throughout the outfiels. The coach will create a batting order for the game so the batters may hit in a continuous rotation throughout the game.
Schedules. Practice schedules will be formed at the coaches meeting to reserve a diamond for once a week for the month of May. We encourage teams to practice at least twice a week during May. However, due to the number of teams and the limited number of diamonds, we can only guarantee one practice slot per week. Other dlots may be available after everyone has chosen at least one time slot.
